How Do I Receive Backup Reports?
A System Administrator can configure reports under Settings > System settings > Email Settings. Choose recipients who will review failures and arrange corrective action.
Configure and Test Delivery
- Choose Sent by JitBackup or Custom SMTP under Delivery method. SMTP is the mail server your company provides for sending messages.
- For Custom SMTP, obtain the server address, port, SSL setting, and any required login details from your mail administrator.
- Under Send email report, choose Daily, Weekly, or Monthly. Never (Disabled notification) turns scheduled reports off.
- Enter up to three Recipients, separated by commas.
- Click Send a test email and confirm that it arrives at the intended addresses.
- Click Update Email Settings to save. Sending a test alone does not save the configuration.
For Sent by JitBackup, ask your mail administrator to allow messages from [email protected] if company filtering blocks them.
The Test Email Does Not Arrive
Check the addresses and your junk folder, then ask your mail administrator to check company quarantine. Read any error displayed in the console.
With Sent by JitBackup, the backup server needs to reach JitBackup's email service. With Custom SMTP, IT should check access from the backup server to the selected mail server, the port and SSL settings, and whether the supplied credentials are accepted.
Use the authentication method approved by your mail administrator. Do not disable company mail security to make a test succeed.
The Test Works but Reports Are Missing
- Confirm that you clicked Update Email Settings after testing.
- Check that the frequency is not Never (Disabled notification) and that the recipients were saved correctly.
- Check whether a report is due for the selected daily, weekly, or monthly interval.
- Ask IT whether the JitBackup server was running and connected at the scheduled time.
Reports follow the selected interval; they are not a promise of an immediate email for every failed item. While investigating missing reports, use History > Backup History to check the actual backups. No email is not evidence of a successful backup.
Password reset emails and website purchase emails are separate workflows. For a reset email, use Console and login problems; for purchase or activation issues, use Trial and licensing questions.
